Curriculum Vitae

Research Expertise: Self-advocacy in school counseling, multicultural competence

Dr. Harris received her doctoral degree in December 2008 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her dissertation topic was The Development and Empirical Analysis of a Self-Advocacy Scale With a University Sample. Along with co-researcher, Dr. Randy Astramovich, she developed a set of self-advocacy competencies which appeared in the Summer 2007 issue of the Journal of Counseling and Development. Dr. Harris was recently elected President-Elect-Elect of the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (WACES). She formerly served as the graduate student representative and more recently as the webmaster. In addition to her position as the Internship Coordinator, Dr. Harris also serves as the Clinical Director of Youth and Community Counseling for Communities In Schools of Nevada.
